Key power stakeholders gathered at Transmission & Distribution/Smart Grids Asia 2009!

Singapore — Close to 240 international industry professionals from the electric utility industry from as far as Argentina and USA gathered at Synergy’s 4th Transmission & Distribution/Smart Grids Asia in Bangkok, Thailand to gain insights and knowledge from utility driven case studies on T&D and smart grids. Provincial Electricity Authority and Metropolitan Electricity Authority of Thailand were the Host Utilities.

During the two-day conference plus a pre-conference seminar, which was held on 1-3 December 2009, participants were actively engaged in high-quality discussions with the various Asian regulators and utilities who present. Key utilities like TNB (Malaysia), TEPCO (Japan), KEPCO (Korea), Western Power (Australia) were on hand to exchange views on how utilities can take their T&D and Smart Grids functions to the next level for the coming decade.

The specially crafted two track conference programme provided important resources and networking opportunities to identify challenges, share experiences and evaluate possible solutions while the interactive discussion sessions provided an honest exchange of information. The refreshing opening address from MEA’s Governor, Mr. Pornthape Thunyapongchai left the participants in rapt attention while the candid exchanges between the panelists during the subsequent utility and regulator roundtable sessions provided the audience with a glimpse of the future plans and policies of the ASEAN utilities and regulators.

On the exhibition floor, the targeted exhibition provided a focused technology showcase for utilities to source new products and services and meet current and new suppliers to stay updated with the latest technologies and industry developments.
